6 Tips for Cleaning Faux Wood Blinds
Tricks to Cleaning Faux Wood Blinds
Faux wood blinds are a great option for homeowners looking to get the same look as wood, with a smaller price tag. However, maintaining them is not the same. Here are some tricks and tips to taking care of your home investment.
Remove the Dust
Get rid of dust easily on faux wood blinds by using a feather duster or dry washcloth over each individual slap. You can include a portable vacuum or standard attachments to make your blinds dust free.
Creating Your Own Cleaning Solution
Make your own cleaning solution to easily apply to your blinds.
Mix mild detergent and warm water in a buck. Soak a washcloth and wring it out until damp. Use to wipe down both the front and back of each slap, cleaning the cords along the way. When done, rinse with clean water.
Be sure to fill fresh water into the buck and dip your washcloth into it. Keep the rag damp and clean while rinsing each slat. Dry the slats of wood with a soft dry cloth. You can even use a portable fan in front to dry quicker. If you prefer the natural way, just open the window and blinds on a breezy day.
Dealing with Tough Stains
Spot clean the blinds if you have stubborn stains to contend with. If the stain is not removed, blot it with a washcloth, dipped in soap and warm water. Continue to blot until the stain disappears.
