Common Oven Repairs

If you’ve experienced damage to your oven and are looking into repair, you are probably concerned about cost and how long the repair will take. Here is a guideline of various repairs and the related costs.


If the filter is bad, you may experience damage. Luckily, this repair is less than $20 and takes very little time to do.


If the igniter has failed, you’ll notice that there is low or no heat in the oven. This repair is a little over $40 and doesn’t take much time to perform. It is a slightly more difficult repair to do.

Element or Burner

If you’ve noticed low heat or no heat when you’re baking, the element or burner may have gone bad. This repair may cost just a little over $40 and won’t take much time and is an easy repair to do.


If the switch is broken, you’ll notice that the oven won’t program. This repair is less than $40, is fairly simple and takes around half an hour to do.


If the grate is bad, you will notice damage. This repair is over $60 and quick and easy to do.


If the valve is broken, you’ll notice the gas igniter glowing without lighting. This repair is more than $80 and not too hard to perform, and takes at least half an hour.

Handle or Latch

If you’ve noticed the handle or latch of your oven is broken, the repair will probably cost about $54, will be considerably difficult and will take a moderate amount of time.


If the door doesn’t open after using the self-clean feature, you may have a broken thermostat. This repair is just over $50 and takes a long time to perform. It is not a difficult repair.


The most expensive problem your oven can have is with the motor. This can be over $140 and take up to two hours to repair.

Seal or Gasket

If you need to replace a seal or gasket, this can usually be done for less than $30 and will take an hour, at most. You may notice that the oven gets too hot if you need to replace a seal or gasket.


If the door won’t open after using the self-clean feature, that could also mean a broken hinge. If that’s the case, it will be an easy repair and cost less than $40.
