Make Adjustments

Adjusting the temperature on your thermostat by a single degree higher or lower can impact your ability to save. A change of 1 degree on the thermostat can power your home for a day, refrigerator for 29 days, and 50in television for 40 days.

Upgrade Furnace

The amount of usage in fuel for a high efficiency furnace is approximately 35%. An energy efficient fan can save 20-50% of energy needed to continually operate versus a traditional one. Overall homeowners can save 25% a year in heating costs by upgrading.

Think Seasonal

During the summer keep your home warmer than normal and lower the thermostat to 78 degrees only when home and the home needs cooling. On hot days, avoid using the oven and instead cook on the stove, grill, or microwave oven. For air conditioning, using a ceiling fan can help raise the thermostat by four degrees without losing the overall comfort level in your home.

For the winter months, set the thermostat at 68 degrees when home. When sleeping or out of the home place it back 10 to 15 degrees for eight hours. Use an LED holiday light string to reduce decorating your home for the winter holidays.

Up The Insulation
