What are the Tenants Rights When Landlord Sells Property

It is true that a landlord has the right to sell the property of tenant in an instant. This fact is applicable in some situations wherein a tenant is no longer capable of paying the remaining installments for a certain property. However, landlords should not intimidate their tenants after selling some properties to other individuals. It is because the group tenants have a set of rights that must be respected by them after an agreement. Like for example, if the property of a tenant which was sold to another individual was a house, the landlord should not force the tenant to move immediately to another facility even if the new owner of the stated property is already excited to occupy it.

When Tenants Move

The tenants who have long-term lease on their former houses should not move immediately to another facility even if their houses were already purchased by other individuals. The tenants should leave their former houses only if the policies for their long-term lease are already terminated. The new owners of their houses cannot force them to move to another facility in an instant if their long term lease policies are not yet expired.

Tenant Protections

Tenants have the right to be protected from harassment if their landlords or the new owners of the houses or properties are already trying to intimidate them. Harassment includes the act of entering or using a house or a property without the permission or consent of a tenant. Aside from that, the act of destructing the way living of a tenant is also considered as a form of harassment. Such actions are punishable under the policies and rules of the law. There are some legal procedures that a landlord or a new owner of a house or property must follow to avoid the cases of harassment.

Tenants have the right to defend themselves if the new owners of their properties are already neglecting their rights. Harassment is always included in the coverage of this rule. Tenants who have abusive and selfish landlords should ask for the assistance of a small claim court to defend their rights at a very affordable price. A small claim court can help them in recovering their security deposits from a landlord after selling their houses or properties to other individuals. Landlords should not ignore the long term lease policies of their tenants while selling a property to a new buyer. Proper and legal arrangements must be executed properly to make sure that troubles and other problems won’t arise in the end.

These are the rights of tenants when their landlords are already selling their properties to other individuals. The design and coverage of these rights are not actually unified in all countries. But the main purposes of these rights are not different from each other. And one of it is to protect the tenants from several kinds of landlord harassment and intimidation after losing their own properties. Tenants should always remember these things because it will serve as their protection against abusive and selfish landlords.
