Reverse mortgage liability

An individual who had a reverse mortgage on a property deeded it to me.
Can anyone tell me if I - as grantee - assumed the debt when I assumed the deed?

If yes, what are my legal rights to *remove the deed grantor who is still living there*?

I need to refurb the property, sell it, and pay off the reverse mortgage debt before they die and the reverse mortgage company comes after me for repayment before I have time to do anything. They are also adding $600 every month in interest to the balance, so I need to do this before it gets any worse.

Thank you for your help!
