I have a situation where my tenant has advised me that they've noticed some ants (large black w/ wings) in the home last 2-3 days. It's great that they've notified me before it becomes a major issue, however, I'm unsure how to best handle the remedy. Should I (a) have the tenant bear the cost of treating the issue ? Or (b) pay for treatment myself.
Both approached have pros/cons. In the former case, I am creating a situation where the tenant would prefer not reporting future issues in fear of having to pay for repairs themselves. In the latter case, I'm paying out of pocket for something the tenant may have done (leaving food etc. out).
