When a person is looking for an agent to buy or sell their home, they're going to need to look for certain things. These things may help the agent stand out against the rest and help create a strong working relationship between the two parties that will make things move more smoothly between them.

No one can predict the ease of a transaction. Some run smoothly and others take turns that no one expects. Creativity is a must for any agent. They must be ready for anything. For the same reason, an agent must have a wide variety of experiences in their field. There needs to be a deep understanding of neighborhoods and the local markets on top of the same knowledge of practices and contracts. Even with creativity and experience, things still go wrong. Make sure that the agent is able to be a calming factor even in the middle of what feels like chaos. Optimism and frankness are equally important as well, making sure to balance them as needed.

If a client needs a great deal of time from their agent - weekly meetings for house hunting or debriefing - both parties should be upfront and honest about this. There is no reason for either party to get into the working relationship and find that the client needs more time than the agent may have to give.
