Ex-tenant charged in Bangor garage fire unable to post $50,000 bail

Detric Stanley was arrested for his alleged part in the fire that destroyed a three-bay garage connected to an apartment building he had been recently evicted from. The damage caused is estimated to be between $75,000 to as much as $100,000. While cars were present, they were able to be moved before they received damage.

Because the crime is classified as a Class A crime, Stanley's bail was set at $50,000. His attorney argued that since Stanley is unemployed and could only afford $500 bail that the judge should allow bail to be set much lower. The judge refused, setting the bail at $50,000 with the conditions that the suspect is not allowed near the apartment buildings, nor to converse with the residents, drink alcohol, or consume any form of drugs.
