Georgetown's Latham Hotel may go micro-residential



Georgetown's ten-story Latham Hotel may be closing for good. The hotel, constructed in 1970, has been shut down after severe water damage, but the website says that it's meant to re-open sometime this year. SB-Urban, run by Mike Balaban and Frank Saul III, has a contract to buy the hotel from Texas-based Loan Star.


DC's zoning administrator sent a letter to The Latham's land use attorney, commenting that it had been proposed to turn the current hotel into a residential and retail property. SB-Urban may be bringing the first micro-building unit to Washington DC.
