IKEA: Residential Solar Panels To Go On Sale At Stores In Britain

IKEA is using Britain as their test market for residential solar panels. Though they eventually hope to push it out across the world, they just released the panels made by China's Hanergy in their Southampton store and feel that between electricity prices and government incentives, England was the best place to start.

For the all-black, 3.36 kilowatt panels, customers will pay 5,700 pounds (which is around 9,200 USD), but part of that incentive is that, if the new panel owners are planning to stay in their home more than seven years, their electricity should be essentially free after that.

Though IKEA plans for this move to be a market-by-market decision, they do wish to push this out worldwide as part of their plan to bring renewable energy to the worldwide market.
