Joan Rivers continues legal dispute with tenant

Comedian Joan Rivers is in the middle of a legal dispute with a neighboring tenant in a luxury building in Manhattan's Upper East Side. Rivers is the president of the board in the building and the tenant, Elizabeth Hazan, was denied access by the board when she built up more than $200,000 in late fees and common charges. Hazan has filed a $15 million lawsuit against Rivers, saying that she had driven her from her home by cutting the cable and filling door locks with glue.

The courts sided with Rivers and the board when it was brought before Manhattan Supreme Court Justice Anil Singh and Hazan was ordered to pay the charges. Hazan staged a protest outside of the building, saying that Rivers had no right to kick her out and that she was holding her belongings "hostage" in the property, specifically noting her 500 pairs of shoes. When the police let her in, the judge advised Rivers to seek an eviction.
