Landlord Faces Lawsuit Over Leasing Policy

The landlord and the manager of an apartment complex in Cleavland are facing a lawsuit brought forward by the Justice Department that there has been a policy in place between them that families are prohibited to live on the property. Allegedly, any applicants that had children were immediately rejected and those that had children while living there were evicted or asked to leave. This is, of course, not in line with the Fair Housing Act and the Justice Department has said that they are dedicated to enforcing it.

The lawsuit is meant not only to keep this from happening in the future, but to provide payment to those that it has affected as well.
