Three million dollars has been awarded to a family in a trial against their former landlord and property managers in New York. The claim that was made was that their young daughter, who had lived with them for the first five years of her life in the apartment in the Bronx, had suffered brain injuries due to the lead paint on the walls. The family says that they had repeatedly contacted the landlord to repair the walls, but they were never repaired well.

Philip Monier, the family's lawyer, brought in experts against the property manager to prove to a jury that they were responsible as well. The judge had already ruled that the landlord was responsible through negligence.
