Now legal in Cuba: Real estate agents

Foreign attention may have been on the fact that Cuba is now allowing its athletes to try out for professional teams outside of their country, but there are other changes at hand as well. The government has been implementing various changes to revive the country's economy, including allowing real estate agents the ability to come forward and legally perform their jobs that they have been doing from the shadows.

Until recently, the theory was that everyone on the island was meant to work for the government. It did not matter if the person was a doctor, a waiter, or somewhere in between, private business was done from the shadows. Real estate agents feared that they might be arrested for connecting those that wished to sell their homes and those that wished to buy it. With the change, hopefully they will be able to come into the open to conduct business.
