NYC Rules Airbnb Rentals Legal if at Least One Tenant Present



NYC residents have been battling the state as to their legal right to rent out a room on the site Airbnb. New York law states that no one may lease a property for less than 30 days in the state. Nigel Warren, the host, was charged a $2,400 fine for illegally hosting a visitor through this site, but he fought the charge as his roommate was present when the visitors were, making it legal in the eyes of the city and the state.


Airbnb was pleased to announce on their blog that the ruling was made in favor of Mr Warren.
