Tech startups are changing the NYC real estate ind

A couple of new tech startups may be helping out NYC's real estate industry. Honest Buildings is Manhattan based tech company that is described by its CEO Riggs Kubiak as "LinkedIn for the real estate industry." It was launched in 2012 and uses technology to put together landlords with vendors, allowing them to dictate exactly what they're looking for including how long the company has been in business, their specialty, etc etc... Honest Buildings does not charge the client, but instead they charge a commission from the vendor if they are hired through their site. With 5,000 to 10,000 New York vendors on their site they've done well enough to move into the Woolworth Building on Broadway.

New startup Floored is also based out of Manhattan and uses technology to help create high res 3D scans of interiors or exteriors so that buyers can see what they are buying, perhaps even before it is finished. Launched in January of this year, they've engineered their product to produce an interactive virtual tour, something like a video game might show, and these designs have replaced traditional renderings with some of their customers.
