Unhappy tenant allegedly sets fire to Augusta apartment building

A twenty-one year old woman in Maine has been charged with arson after allegedly setting fire to her apartment building. Christina Karod was apparently unhappy in the building, saying that she had had multiple problems and would prefer to move closer to her family. Three fires were set on the second floor, including to books in a common reading area as well as to curtains that were on an exit door. The flames were put out fairly quickly by another tenant who received minor burns to the hands. The fires cost less than $1,000 in damages.
Karod's bail was set at $2,500 and a curfew put in place should she be released. She will be required to move in with her father and will not be allowed near the apartment building.
