Jim Lesinski developed a software several years ago that allowed people to make home offers online. He has built a new company off of this software called Empower Realty, which hopes to change the way that real estate agents do business. The business was developed for those buyers and sellers that wished to give real estate agents a less prominent role in their transaction. Everything is done electronically with private chat rooms, texts, and messages. A broker is available to help if needed. The buyer will look for the home that they desire, and when they find it, use one of the contracted agents through Empower to view it physically, and make an offer online. A team of brokers take a look at the offer to review it for the buyer.
Lesinski believes that his company can save buyers quite a bit of money - he estimates it is about 30% - as real estate brokers tend to charge a commission between 6% and 7%. He is taking advantage of Black Friday coming up to promote the new company, offering to charge only a 3.99% commission (compared to the usual 4.75% that they usually charge) to the first 200 people to register that Friday morning starting at 12:01AM.
